Job Description and Responsibilities:

Allogene Therapeutics is seeking an independent and highly motivated Scientist to conduct preclinical studies to evaluate and improve the efficacy of allogeneic CAR T cell therapies. The candidate will provide scientific and technical expertise to study CAR T cells in the allogeneic environment and investigate modifications that enhance their persistence and activity. The ideal candidate is an individual who is excited to take on new challenges in a dynamic start-up environment.

  • Design and execute in vitro assays to assess T and NK cell alloreactivity
  • Plan and conduct studies to monitor immune reconstitution and allogeneic CAR T cell persistence and activity following lymphodepletion in immunocompetent mouse models
  • Investigate genetic modifications that may prevent alloreactivity and/or sustain the persistence of CAR T cells in the allogeneic environment
  • Contribute to a collaborative group effort to advance next-generation AlloCAR T cell therapies into the clinic
  • Collaborate with the CAR T cell process development group to inform future manufacturing process improvements for allogeneic CAR T cells
  • Stay abreast of latest scientific and technology advancements in the field
  • Train and mentor junior scientists and perform other duties as assigned
  • Present at group meetings and project team meetings 


  • Knowledge of cellular and molecular immunology
  • Relevant experience in immunocompetent mouse models and MLR assays preferred
  • Ability to design and execute studies to evaluate mouse and human CAR T cell activity in vitro and in vivo
  • Hands-on experience in retroviral/lentiviral transduction of mouse and human T cells preferred
  • Knowledge and experience in gene editing technologies including CRISPR/Cas9
  • Experience in immune cell isolation and proficiency in flow cytometry-based characterization of immune cells
  • Proactive attitude and strong desire to be part of a team working together to overcome obstacles
  • Strong oral presentation and communication skills
