Specialist – Schumacher Lab

The Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Care at the University of California, San Francisco is seeking a part-time Specialist.

Responsibilities:

  • Quantify and determine stability of minor cannabinoid compounds such as CBD by HPLC
  • Designing methods of analysis of reaction mixtures and analyzing final products by HPLC and spectrophotometer
  • Interpretation of analytical results to assess identity, concentration and purity of isolated chemical entities and their interaction with DNA
  • Interpretation of Mass Spectrophotometry and NMR data to validate small molecule structure and composition

Required Qualifications:

  • Specialists appointed at the full rank must possess a terminal degree (or equivalent degree) or must have at least ten or more years of research experience.
  • Expertise with the following:
  • Quantifying and determining stability of minor cannabinoid compounds such as CBD - by HPLC
  • Designing methods of analysis of reaction mixtures and analyzing final products by HPLC and spectrophotometer
  • Interpretation of Mass Spectrophotometry and NMR data to validate small molecule structure and composition

Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities and do not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in University and Public Service. Screening of applicants will begin immediately and will continue as needed throughout the recruitment period. Salary and rank will be commensurate with the applicants experience and training.
